About Thaddeus
Thaddeus Wendt has been practicing personal injury law since he graduated from law school in 2007. During that time, he has handled all manner of personal injury cases including : care facility abuse, motor vehicle collisions, semitruck crashes, slip and falls, trip and falls, wrongful deaths, medical malpractice, product liability, dog bites, sexual abuse cases, business contingency cases and boating cases. Thaddeus understands the complex insurance claims world and he is acutely aware that folks that are injured through no fault of their own are at a significant disadvantage in a number of ways. First, the injured parties don’t fully realize that the company they have hired and paid to protect them has just moved them from the asset side of the financial ledgers to the liability side of the ledgers. Second, they don’t understand that the agents, whom they know and often respect, are not the decision makers when it comes to fairly resolving their claims. Rather, it is insurance adjusters that will handle their claims. These are people that have been trained to deny, delay, and defend against the injured parties’ claims in an attempt to pay as little as possible to settle the claims. These adjusters are supported by corporate attorneys and have a keen understanding of the contracts and the psychology of an injured party. They use their resources and knowledge to try to either quickly settle a case before an injured person is able to determine the full extent of their injuries or they drag out the claims process for years in an attempt to frustrate and force an injured person to settle for pennies on the dollars. They do all this while questioning the authenticity of the injured person’s damages and trying to find ways to shift responsibility for the injury event onto their very own clients so they don’t have to pay anything or as little as possible.
Because of his knowledge and experience, Thaddeus understands that he is engaged in David v. Goliath struggles each day as he represents clients. Thaddeus has a passion for defending the small guy, the Davids, while fighting against the corporate insurance companies, the Goliaths, who try to make people feel bad for asking them to do what they say they will do and what we pay them to do….protect us in our greatest times of need. Thaddeus is a proud capitalist but he is willing to fight corporate greed and unfairness when insurance companies fail to properly protect their customers and our communities. This occurs every day when insurance companies fail to provide reasonable, timely settlements to the members of our communities that have been injured through no fault of their own.
Further, Thaddeus has taken on local hospitals, doctors, companies, schools, and government entities when they fail to accept responsibility for their part in injuring members of our community. When these people and entities fail to keep us reasonably safe, they should step up and do their best to make the injured people whole and change their policies and procedures so that the unsafe event never happens again. When these entities don’t do this on their own, Thaddeus is there to hold them accountable and help make our communities safer for all of us. When a school fails to protect our children, Thaddeus will be there. When a government vehicle causes a wreck, Thaddeus will be there. When a doctor operates on the wrong part of your body, Thaddeus will be there. When a hospital exposes its patients to blood-borne illnesses, Thaddeus will be there. When a therapeutic boarding school hires a sex offender and allows them to prey on the very children they should be helping, Thaddeus will be there. When a massage therapy company hires men who sexually assault their female patrons, Thaddeus will be there. When trucking companies push their drivers to drive too many hours and operate unsafe vehicles, Thaddeus will be there. When someone makes the decision to text while driving, Thaddeus knows this is no “accident” and Thaddeus will be there.
Thaddeus has moved into a CEO role at Feller & Wendt. Thaddeus still meets with clients but he also now focuses on training up new attorneys and staff so that Feller & Wendt can help out more people in more communities in and throughout Utah, Idaho, and Arizona. Thaddeus works hard to embed Feller & Wendt’s core values into all facets of his business. He works hard to ensure that every client, vendor, employee, and guest of Feller & Wendt sees, feels, and experiences Feller & Wendt’s core focus: “We Care About People.” He wants everyone to know that Feller & Wendt is Dedicated to Every Client, Advocates for Community Safety, and Generates Incredible Work Product while the owners and staff are Loyal to the Firm and maintain a Balanced, Productive and Healthy Work-life Ethic.
Thaddeus has successfully tried numerous cases in Utah and has won arguments on motions throughout the country. He prides himself on having developed a working reputation that fosters successful settlements on thousands of cases all over the U.S. He zealously pursues every claim as if it will go to trial but he is open to fair negotiations and settlement discussions throughout the claims and litigation processes. He believes that aggressive development of a case includes timely and complete discovery from both parties and he is willing to fight opposing counsel whenever they fail to disclose relevant information or have spoiled evidence. In doing so, Thaddeus has been very successful at winning motions for sanctions and motions to compel discovery that is oftentimes not pursued by other attorneys. That said, Thaddeus believes that all people, including opposing counsel and defendants, should be treated with dignity and respect. So while Thaddeus will fight with zeal and vigor for his clients, he will only do so ethically and fairly.
Outside of his professional work, Thaddeus enjoys spending time with his wife of 18 years and their 3 children. Thaddeus coaches his two youngest sons in basketball and football. The family enjoys spending weekends with friends and family at their pool or staying busy with travels to new places in the U.S. and abroad. Recently, Thaddeus and his family visited Kenya to help a school for poor children and churches in Kericho and then to have some safari fun in the Masai Mara. Thaddeus Wendt is an unapologetic Christian and is a member of the Washington Heights Church Community. His belief in Jesus Christ as his savior shapes his worldview, his role as a father to three amazing boys, his duty as a husband to his unbelievable wife, his responsibilities as a member of his local community, and his obligations as an owner of Feller & Wendt.
